Pedestrian in fatal Warren County crash identified as 32-year-old
Police identified the pedestrian Wednesday who died after being struck by a vehicle Friday on Route 22 West in Lopatcong Township. Township police said 32-year-old Andre D. Simpson of Newark, New Jersey, was struck around 5 p.m on Route 22 near South Third Street. Simpson was then taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Warren, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Authorities Charge Phillipsburg Man with DWI at Twice Legal Limit
PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - A Phillipsburg resident was charged in Peapack and Gladstone Borough for allegedly driving intoxicated at twice the legal limit. On August 20, 2024, at approximately 3:23 p.m., Detective Adam Caruso and Corporal Paul Morris responded to a call regarding an intoxicated individual in the area of Highland Avenue, according to a statement from the Peapack and Gladstone Borough Police Department.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Upon arrival, the officers encountered Abioudun Osunsanya, a 59-year-old resident of Phillipsburg, NJ. Detective Caruso noted a strong odor of alcohol emanating from Osunsanya, who displayed clear signs of intoxication. During their interaction, Osunsanya admitted to having driven to the location. Field sobriety tests conducted by the officers indicated that Osunsanya was under the influence. Subsequent processing at police headquarters revealed that Osunsanya's blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit. In accordance with John’s Law, which mandates that those charged with driving while intoxicated be released to a responsible party, Osunsanya was released to a designated individual pending a court case.
