Pickleball gaining momentum in Stillwater County
Plans are in the works to add pickleball courts to Columbus as well as to resurface the current basketball and tennis facilities in Heritage Park. Over the past decade, the sport of pickleball has grown increasingly in popularity, including in the local area. Pickleball is similar to tennis and combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong while using a wiffle-like ball that makes the game easier paced, according to USA Pickleball. As a result of this, the game was primarily rooted in senior living centers but has recently taken off to be a fun activity for all ages.
County releases statement on Homestead property
Stillwater County Public Information Officer Stephanie Ray shared the following news release with the Stillwater County News on the Homestead Property in Park City. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Gary Weitz, Robette Weitz and Gary Weitz as trustees of the Robette R. Weitz Living Trust, were notified by Moulton Bellingham, PC attorney Adam Tunning of a Notice of Default and Request to Mediate per terms of the November 23, 2023 Stipulation entered into with the Stillwater County Board of Health v. Weitz et al DV 22-91.
Motorcyclist dies in Stillwater County crash
A 74-year-old man from Columbus died in a motorcycle crash in Stillwater County on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The Montana Highway Patrol says it happened at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Old Highway 10 and Secondary Road 306 just west of Columbus. The man was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on the highway when it crossed the center line and traveled across the westbound lane. Museum to host tour of Crow Tribe influence on Stillwater County
The Museum of the Beartooths in Columbus is pleased to invite the public to participate in an all-day tour on Saturday, July 20, focusing on the influence of the Crow Tribe in Stillwater County. The tour starts with an overview of the history of the Crow Tribe’s Influence in Stillwater County at the Museum of the Beartooths with Museum Director Penny Redli and Casey Olsen of Columbus High School. Once on the bus, the group will stop at important Crow sites along the way.
