Day-long celebrations for Post #48, Christensen
The City of Stillwater proclaimed Aug. 16 Stillwater Junior Legion Baseball Team Day after Post #48 captured the Division I State Championship on July 30. The team was honored during the city council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15, with team members, from left, Tanner Kahn, coach Ryan Bartosiewski, Henry Sample, Cooper Howe, Liam Schuldt, Dylan Bloom, Owen Dague, Joe Fredkove and Riley Runk attending. Champions crowned in Elks Batter's Up Batting Challenge
The Stillwater Elks Lodge #179 conducted its first Batter’s Up Batting Challenge on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Stillwater Area High School. Despite the possibility of threatening weather, 17 individuals participated in the event while competing in age divisions ranging from 5-15 years old. Seniors Ethan Bernier and Blake Rose were honored with the Pony Award as the most valuable athletes for the Stillwater boys lacrosse team. The midfielders each ranked among team leaders in scoring, with Bernier finishing with 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points and Rose adding 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points. Men's lacrosse: Stahl receives Scholar All-American honors
Jameson Stahl, a 2019 Stillwater Area High School graduate, finished off his collegiate lacrosse career at Carthage College by earning Division III Scholar All-American honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. Stahl played in 51 games over four seasons with the Firebirds, who compiled a 38-16 record during that time. Running: Maish and Monroe top field in St. Croix Crossing Half Marathon
Carson Maish of Bemidji and Kendall Monroe of Bloomington were the top finishers in the St. Croix Crossing Half Marathon on Saturday, July 29. Maish, 19, completed the 13.1-mile race in a winning time of 1:18:04, well ahead of men’s runner-up Jake Thompson (1:19:29) of Dresser, Wis. Sports brief: SAHS Athletic passes for 2023-24 available for purchase
SAHS athletic passes for 2023-24 available for purchase Passes for all regular season home athletic contests for Stillwater Area High School teams are not available for purchase. The passes provide admittance for fall, winter, and spring sports — except for hockey games at the St. Croix Valley Rec Center. Separate season passes for hockey will be available for purchase at a later date. The passes cannot be used for section and state tournament competitions hosted at SAHS, The passes — electronic only, no physical pass will be issued — can only be purchased online at hometownticketing.com. The all-sports passes are $53 for students and $78 for adults. Only the pass holder may use it for admittance and the passes are non-transferable. Middle school and elementary school students must be accompanied by an adult at Pony Athletic Contests.

Strong pitching and defense propelled Stillwater to the Sub-State E championship on Sunday, July 23 in Rosemount. The victory earns Post #48 a spot in the Minnesota Division 1 Junior Legion State Tournament in Alimagnet Park in Apple Valley.
