This is a look back at some of the people and teams making news in the St. Croix Valley 10 years ago, as reported in the Stillwater Gazette.

Girls golf — Erin Thiets (42), Leah Kroenning (44), Sarah Nelson (48 and Sydney O’Neal (49) complete the scoring as the Stillwater girls golf team finishes at 183 and loses a tie-breaker to place third behind East Ridge (180) and Forest Lake (183) in the season-opening Suburban East Conference meet at Oak Glen Golf Course. Just seven shots separates the top five teams in the meet as Cretin-Derham Hall (184) and Mounds View (187) follow in the fourth and fifth spots.

Baseball — After throwing five hitless innings in his first start of the season, Trevor Dudar allows just one hit in five innings to help lead Stillwater to a 14-1 Suburban East Conference baseball victory at White Bear Lake. Dudar, who also doubles at the plate, allows one walk and strikes out 10 in five innings on the mound against the Bears.

Boys tennis — The first doubles team of Daniel Ahrendt and Jack Leach and fourth singles player Riley Hollerbach each finish first with 3-0 records to help lead the Stillwwater boys tennis team to a runner-up showing behind St. Paul Harding in the Herzog Invitational at Stillwater Area High School. Ryan Murphy and Isaac Thole add a second-place finish for the Ponies at third doubles.
