Girls golf: Stillwater places seventh in SEC events

DELLWOOD — After turning in a season-best third-place finish at North Oaks on April 29, the Stillwater girls golf team was unable to build on that momentum while slipping to seventh in each of the next two Suburban East Conference matches.

Stillwater posted a score of 206 to place seventh in a conference meet on Monday, May 6 at White Bear Yacht Club. Mounds View held off conference front-runner East Ridge 175-178 for the top spot while White Bear Lake followed in third with a total of 188.

Sam Schinka led the Ponies with a 47, followed by Addison Schinka (52), Nora Roberts (53) and Vyan Abdullah (54). Kylie Voight and Lauren Roberts each followed with a 55.

Bella Leonhart of Forest Lake was the individual medalist with a 40.

Ponies seventh at Troy Burne

At Hudson, Wis., Vyan Abdullah and Addison Schinka contributed matching 91s as the Ponies placed seventh with a total of 383 in an 18-hole conference match on Thursday May 2 at Troy Burne Golf Club.

East Ridge put together a winning total of 328 to finish comfortably ahead of runner-up White Bear Lake (357) and third-place Mounds View (366). Cretin-Derham Hall’s Lily Vincelli was the individual medalist with a 75.

Nora Roberts shot 100 and Sam Schinka added a 101 to complete the scoring for the Ponies, who also received a 105 from Lauren Roberts and a 111 from Kylie Voight.

The Ponies are scheduled to compete in another conference match at Midland Hills on Monday, May 13.
