Gritters and Levy are SAHS Athletes of the Week

Annie Gritters

Synchronized swimming

An important contributor from a six-member senior class for the Stillwater synchronized swimming team, Annie Gritters helped pave the way to the program’s four straight state championship on May 23-24.

Gritters was among five Ponies to earn all-state honors after placing third with Isana Downing in the extended duet and joining Downing and Paige Schmit to win the extended trio division. She also swam on the first-place extended team to help the Ponies to outlast rivals Wayzata and Forest Lake for the program’s 22nd state championship overall.

AJ Levy

Baseball

A leader at the top of a deep lineup all season, AJ Levy has also contributed in the postseason for the Suburban East Conference champion Stillwater baseball team.

The junior delivered three hits, including a double, as the Ponies held off White Bear Lake for a 5-2 victory in the Section 4AAAA tourney on May 29. Levy also supplied a double and triple in Stillwater’s 15-1 opening-round victory over St. Paul Central.

The Ponies (17-5) are scheduled to face East Ridge in the winners bracket finals on May 31.
