The Stillwater Loggers amateur baseball team hosted the Phillies, a St. Croix Valley Athletic Association youth baseball team for some drills and fun on Sunday, June 2 at Stillwater Area High School. The Loggers have a long tradition of performing on the field and off for the local community. The Phillies are coached by Robbie Johnson, who has history with the Loggers and current coach/general manager Jay Haws contacted Johnson aboutt his opportunity. “Jay reached out asking if this would be something our team would be interested in doing and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity,” Johnson said. “Jay has done a great job with the Loggers. It was awesome to see these guys volunteer their time and work with the younger kids. It’s a true testament of their former coaches, teammates, and parents.” The season is underway, but off to a rainy start for the Loggers, who play in the Skyline League (Minnesota Men’s A Amateur League). The team is full of local players and former Stillwater Ponies athletes. Additional information is available on Twitter (@LoggersBasebal) or Facebook (Stillwater Loggers Baseball) for more information and game schedule.
