    Stockton to unveil new mural featuring monarch butterflies

    (FOX40.COM) — In an effort to enrich Stockton’s public spaces , the Stockton Arts Commission is inviting the public to the unveiling of the city’s newest mural at the start of August.

    On the first day of the month, the commission will unveil “ Winged Wanderers ,” an art piece that includes monarch butterflies flying above the city.

    Former Stockton motel turned into permanent housing

    “The monarch butterflies appear as though paused mid-flight to admire the landmarks and streets,” reads a statement from the city, which goes on to say that the mural evokes “harmony between nature and human life.”

    The mural is the work of artist Charly Malpass and is on the Market Parking Garage, at 430 E. Market St .

    The ceremony will be on August 1 at 9 a.m., on the corner of E. Market St. and S. Sutter St.
