CEDAR COUNTY, Mo. – A judge in Cedar County issued a temporary restraining order to stop a sex party from happening at the Zumwalt Expo Center in Stockton last weekend.

According to the court , a BDSM company doing business as “TLC Hawaiian hotties” advertised a “swing sex party” to take place at the expo center on Saturday, June 29.

Court documents claim the party would have violated several Missouri statutes relating to sexual misconduct and prostitution.

A judge issued a temporary restraining order against the company on Friday, June 28, just ahead of the event.

KOLR 10 Investigates looked into what Missouri law has to say about these kind of adult parties.

Intercourse in a public place in the presence of a third person is illegal according to Missouri law. But is the expo center a public place?

Court documents claim the U.S. Corps of Engineers owns and leases the Zumwalt Expo Center. That would typically classify the land as public property. But our investigative team was surprised to find the road to the community center blocked off and locked by a gate.

If the federal government owns the property as the lawsuit suggests, it could also be why court documents mentioned that advertising for the event indicated there would be marijuana use at the party. Though recreational marijuana is legal in Missouri, it remains illegal on the federal level.

The lawsuit goes on to say that if there’s money involved, the event would also violate Missouri’s prostitution laws.

KOLR 10 Investigates will continue to follow this story.
