UConn fans won’t have to wait long for their first chance to see the 2024-25 men’s basketball team play in Gampel Pavilion.

The reigning back-to-back national champions announced Friday that there will be an open team workout hosted in Storrs on Aug. 3. The event is free and open to the public, with tickets available to be claimed on the UConn Athletics website .

Doors at the East and South entrances of Gampel Pavilion will open at 10 a.m. with the workout set to begin at 11 a.m.. The workout will last approximately an hour, and will be followed by an NIL event yet to be announced.

UConn, despite losing four of five starters to the NBA Draft, returns three two-time champions in Alex Karaban, Hassan Diarra and Samson Johnson, who are all presumably in line for larger roles this season. Karaban, the fifth starter who declined guaranteed money in the second round of the draft, will be a key leader in his third year with the program, which added three freshmen and a pair of experienced players from the transfer portal this offseason.

The program, which recently signed each of its coaches, including Dan Hurley, to new contracts, has a chance to become the first to win three national championships in a row since John Wooden’s UCLA teams won seven straight from 1967-73.
