BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The U.S.S. Oscar Austin, an active U.S. naval destroyer ship is offering free tours for patrons in honor of Navy Week, which is being observed in Boston July 1-7. The tours on the Fourth of July are a part of the 2024 Boston Harborfest, an annual tradition that celebrates "Boston's maritime and revolutionary history," according to the event's website.
Sumner Tunnel closure in Boston to begin on Friday, last for 1 month
For a one-month period starting July 5, Boston’s Sumner Tunnel, which connects East Boston to downtown, will be closed for the second time since last year. “This is a vitally important infrastructure project that will ensure the Sumner Tunnel remains safe and structurally sound for generations,” Transportation Secretary and CEO Monica Tibbits-Nutt said in a May statement. “We want to thank the people of Massachusetts and especially East Boston residents for their patience as we get closer to completing this very important work.”

Unlicensed driver crashed through fence onto MBTA train tracks, police say
An unlicensed driver crashed through a fence and landed on MBTA train tracks causing trains to be delayed Tuesday, MBTA Transit Police said. Around 12:30 p.m., police said a driver crashed and landed on the train tracks at the Savin Hill station. Service was delayed due to the crash and transit police shared a video and photos of the car being towed off the train tracks. Damage could be seen on the side and front of the car, including a cracked windshield.
