Streetsboro Family Days will return to City Park this weekend, with music ; a car, truck and bike show; and fireworks.

The three-day festival , now in its 23rd year, opens Friday. It will feature free concerts and a beer garden.

Von Starkey, who organizes the event along with her husband, Rob, said many people have expressed excitement about the festival, posting positive comments online.

"People are looking forward to the entertainment and just being able to enjoy the event," she said.

The festival opens at 4 p.m. Friday with an opening ceremony featuring the Streetsboro American Legion and VFW post. The festival and Beer Garden will be open from 4 to 11 p.m., and performers include Trailer Park Ninjas and Old Skool.

On Saturday, the festival and beer garden will be open from noon to 11 p.m. Activities include Sandy's Notions Make it and Take It, Touch a Truck, and donut and pizza eating contests. There also will be a Home Depot Kids Workshop and Pure Passion Farms will bring its alpacas. Concert performers include Rte 212, Back to the 80s and Straight On, a Heart tribute band, which will play before and after a fireworks display.

Sunday activities include a Car, Truck and Bike show from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pet Petacular, a day of activities centered around pets, will go on throughout the day.

Performers include The Sweet Nothings and Jungle Bob Animal Show. The festival is expected to close around 5 p.m. although the beer garden will be open until 5:45 p.m.

Gateway Recovery & Towing will be doing "Smash a Car" all three days. A dunk tank also will be set up all three days, with school groups raising money for sports.

Starkey said more than 40 vendors will be set up at the park.

Admission is free, and parking is $5. Amusement rides will not be returning to the festival this year because amusement companies are unavailable and in short supply.
