    Valley Little League team headed to World Series

    PENDLETON, Indiana (WKBN) – The Steel Valley All Stars, a combined 14U girls softball team from across the Mahoning Valley, won the Central Division Championship against the Indiana State Championship team, 15-1, in the Little League 2024 Junior League World Series, Sunday afternoon.

    The SVAC players are from Boardman, Canfield, Poland and Struthers.

    Pitcher Gia Vrona went the distance in five innings and tossed a no-hitter. She also struck out 13 batters.

    The Valley team had 15 hits while all 11 players each recorded one hit.

    Mackenzie Moore was the hero of the game, posting two hits and five runs batted in. Moore also had a grand slam home run in the victory.

    The Steel Valley All Stars advance to the 2024 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.

    The Ohio Championship team gets back to action at 4:30 p.m., July 28 against the Europe-Africa-Prague, Czech Republic combined team at Everest Park.
