STURGIS, S.D. (KELO) — A Wyoming man is admitting to shooting at a South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper during an incident at the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The Attorney General’s Office says 29-year-old Wyatt Fluty is pleading guilty to Attempted First Degree Murder and one other charge. He will be sentenced on July 17th. He faces up to 75 years in prison.

The incident happened on August 9th after it was reported that Fluty was believed to have stolen a vehicle. The trooper tried to arrest Fluty, but he tried to run and fired shots at the trooper, who shot back.

Fluty suffered minor injuries and was arrested by the trooper and an off-duty deputy. The officers were not hurt.
