Brooke Schofield has been forced to apologize after a series of racist tweets she made as a 15 to 18-year-old. The popular lifestyle influencer, who boasts more than 2.2 million followers on TikTok, issued two apologies for remarks that included the man who killed Trayvon Martin in 2012.

In part one of her apology, shared on August 5, she attempted to explain the context but instead tried to dodge accountability. “Unfortunately, those are not fake, they are real tweets of things that I said,” she said . “My parents were addicts, so I was adopted by my grandparents when I was like 10. As is true for a lot of grandparents, they’re a little bit less progressive than a lot of us are now.”

She went on to explain that her grandfather was “ring-wing conservative” and “the only thing ever that I had been exposed to” were conservative political commentators and news outlets. In a follow-up video , she reflected on what she said, acknowledging that, “I made none of the points that I should have been making … Sorry is not enough, in my opinion,” and added that “even though I was a teenager, I was old enough to know better.” While Brook Schofield’s racist tweets have been deleted, the internet keeps receipts (captured by @PopCrave ), although this is by no means an exhaustive list.
