(WFRV)- Originally founded in 1868, Ahnapee Brewery was located in Ahnapee which is now named Algoma. Known for their Ahnapee Lager, they produced beer for the local area until 1886. In 2013, Ahnapee Brewery was re-imagined and reopened in a two-stall garage-turned-taproom two doors down from the original brewery location in Algoma.

Farmers market could move next summer
Popular Tuesday afternoon market seeks new home at Memorial Field. The wheels are in motion to move the Oconto County Farmers Market to a new home in 2025. The Oconto Falls City Council on July 9 approved continued conversations with coordinator Sophie Ford about moving the weekly market from its current location at Highland Plaza to Memorial Field next summer.

Cornerstone Community Center expects to break ground this fall on fourth ice rink
DE PERE (WLUK) – Groundbreaking is expected this fall for the addition of a fourth ice rink at the Cornerstone Community Center. The $22 million project includes a 3,000-seat arena, which will be used for tournaments as well as the St. Norbert College men’s and women’s hockey teams. It is expected to open in fall 2025.
Fun in the Falls returns again
The Oconto Falls City Council gave its preliminary blessing July 9 to a second edition of the Fun in the Falls festival. Troy Fowler told the council the event is scheduled for Aug. 17 and is not affiliated with the group that staged the first revival last year. Years ago, Fun in the Falls was part of the annual City-Wide Rummage Sale Weekend; for the second year, the festival is scheduled for the following Saturday.
