Leeward Renewable Energy Brings Clean Energy Jobs To Illinois
Leeward Renewable Energy’s GSG Wind Project built 26 new turbines and recycled 100% of decommissioned wind turbines, adding numerous clean energy jobs in Illinois. The GSG Wind project, which stretches across 3,000 acres near West Brooklyn, Illinois, became commercially operational in 2007. Illinois Representative Darin LaHood recently visited the site to meet with local farmers and discuss the economic benefits of clean wind power.

City prepares for street work
MENDOTA - The Mendota City Council took steps toward the summer street maintenance program and sidewalk work at its July 15 regular meeting. During Alderman Jim Fitzpatrick’s report, the council approved an engineering agreement with Chamlin & Associates for the 2024 Motor Fuel Tax/Rebuild Illinois street program. Specific streets and alleys to be redone are yet to be determined.

Paw Paw to install solar speed sign on Chicago Road
PAW PAW – The Paw Paw Village Board met in regular session on July 10. Concerned citizens brought up the issue of cars speeding as they come into town from the east on Chicago Road. The Village plans on installing a solar powered radar speed sign that will display the speed of the oncoming cars. Opinions were also voiced of the fact that many drivers are not coming to a complete stop at the village stop signs.
