Kurn earns first coaching victory

The Cumby Lady Trojans resumed action recently by participating in the Sulphur Springs Tournament. In that time, the Lady Trojans would play hard and tough, gaining experience for the rest of the season.

The first game pitted the Lady Trojans against the Prairiland Lady Patriots. The Lady Trojans were swept in that game, with set scores of 10-25 and 14-25.

In their following game, the Lady Trojans squared off against the host team, the Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats. The Lady Trojans once again lost in two sets, with set scores of 11-25 and 14-25.

The Lady Trojans then played the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers. Soon after, Cumby took on the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs. That game ended in a three-set loss for the Lady Trojans, with set scores of 25-21, 13-25 and 23-25.

The Lady Trojans’ fifth game came against the Edgewood Lady Bulldogs. Cumby came out on top in two sets, giving Savannah Kurn her first victory as Cumby’s head volleyball coach.

Cumby’s final game was against the Wills Point Lady Tigers, which ended in a loss.

With these results, the Lady Trojans are now 1-6 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming the Prairiland Lady Patriots to Cumby Gymnasium.
