One killed in two-vehicle crash

A 26-year-old Sulphur Springs man died following an early morning crash on Interstate 30 Monday, June 3.

Sulphur Springs Police Department was first alerted to what was reported as a major crash on I-30 near the 124 mile marker at 1:16 a.m. June 3. Officers and other emergency personnel responded at the location.

According to the investigation, a 2021 Tesla was eastbound on Interstate 30, when it left the roadway and struck the trailer of a truck tractor that was parked on the shoulder of the Interstate.

The male driver and sole occupant of the Tesla was pronounced deceased at the scene by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace BJ Teer. Police Tuesday morning stated the deceased male had been identified as 26-yearold Jordan Taylor Smith of Sulphur Springs.

The driver of the truck tractor was not injured.
