    Sulphur Springs aims for sixth consecutive playoff berth

    The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats have announced their volleyball schedule for the 2024 season. This season will be their sixth under Head Coach Bailey Dorner, and the Lady Wildcats will also be looking to clinch their sixth consecutive playoff berth.

    Last season, the Lady Wildcats went 21-19 overall and 6-4 in district, placing third. In the playoffs, they were eliminated in the Bi-District round following a four-set loss to the Brownsboro Bearettes (2225, 17-25, 25-22, 21-25).

    This year, the Lady Wildcats are slated to compete in 12 home games, 11 road games and three tournaments. They will begin their season by hosting scrimmages at Sulphur Springs High School Aug. 9.

    For their first regular season game, the Lady Wildcats travel to Mount Pleasant Aug. 13 to face off against the Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers. Later that week, the Lady Wildcats host the Sulphur Springs Tournament from Aug. 1517.

    To begin the second week of the regular season, the Lady Wildcats host their first home Aug. 20 against the Greenville Lady Lions. They will also compete in the Mount Vernon Tournament Aug. 22 and 24. In between the tournament, the Lady Wildcats travel to Wills Point Aug. 23 to face off against the Wills Point Lady Tigers in a non-district contest.

    For the final week of August, the Lady Wildcats begin the week with a road game against the Canton Eaglettes Aug. 27. Additionally, they will compete in their final tournament of the season, the Caddo Mills Tournament, on Aug. 29 and 31. Between the tournament dates, the Lady Wildcats host the Liberty- Eylau Lady Leopards for a non-district game Aug. 30.

    To kick off the month of September, the Lady Wildcats host two games: first hosting the Rains Lady Wildcats Sept. 3, and then hosting the Hooks Lady Hornets Sept. 6. Their next game will be a road game against the Ford Lady Panthers Sept. 10.

    Following an open date Sept. 13, the Lady Wildcats begin the following week with a road game against the Prairiland Lady Patriots Sept. 17. Later that week, the Lady Wildcats return home to host the North Hopkins Lady Panthers Sept. 20.

    For their final week of the September, the Lady Wildcats welcome the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles to Wildcat Gym Sept 24. Then, they will begin their district schedule by traveling to Paris to take on the North Lamar Pantherettes Sept. 27.

    The month of October for the Lady Wildcats begins with a road trip to Texarkana for a game against the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks Oct. 1. Later in the week, the Lady Wildcats play their first home district game against the Pittsburg Lady Pirates Oct. 4.

    The following week features a pair of road games: the first being against the Paris Lady Wildcats Oct. 8, and the next being against the Bonham Lady Warriors Oct. 11. These two games will conclude the first half of the district schedule.

    To begin the third week of October, the Lady Wildcats return home for a pair of games to start the second half of district. First, the Lady Wildcats host North Lamar Oct. 15, then they host Pleasant Grove Oct. 18.

    The following week, the Lady Wildcats play their last road game of the season Oct. 22 against Pittsburg. From there, the Lady Wildcats end the season with home games against Paris Oct. 25 and Bonham Oct. 29, with the Bonham game serving as Senior Night.

    The Lady Wildcats will be looking to produce positive results in 2024. They will look to keep their playoff streak alive, contend for a district championship and make a deep playoff run.
