    Summit Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Blaze on High Street

    SUMMIT, NJ -- A fire broke out at a home on High Street on Monday evening, but was quickly brought under control by local firefighters.

    At around 6:27 p.m. on July 29, the City of Summit Fire Department responded to an activated alarm at the residence. Upon arrival, crews discovered smoke and flames at the back of the house. The fire was declared under control by approximately 7:10 p.m.

    The residents were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported among first responders.

    Fire departments from Cranford, Millburn, Springfield, and Union assisted at the scene. The Summit Police Department and Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad also responded. Coverage for the Summit Fire Department was provided by New Providence, Mountainside, and Westfield fire departments.
