Eberle Brewing Company, Jackson, Michigan: 1897-1900s
Jackson's beer production goes back further than your neighbor's grandfather making it in his bathtub during wartime. The Eberle Brewing Company was founded in Jackson in 1897-1898 (some historians disagree on which year) by Carl Eberle. Carl purchased a large building (a brewery) that sat at 901 Water Street (now an empty lot).

JACKSON, MI -- The Jackson County Animal Shelter, 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption. Mr. Deeds is a 2-year-old American Staffordshire mix who came in as a stray. He loves to get out of his kennel and go for walks, hang out with his human and get outside.

Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on and join Jean Wilson & Friends, a sextet of talented career musicians who play jazz standards, in Wurster Park this Thursday, July 11, from 7pm to 8pm. Rain location is Emanuel Church, 324 W Main St (kitty-corner to the park). This concert is sponsored by Manchester District Library and Worth Repeating.

St. Mary’s Parish is pleased to announce the return of its annual Ice Cream Social on Thursday, July 25, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. This event will be held in front of the church on the north side of Wurster Park, 210 W Main St. We are celebrating the 132nd year of our summer get-together of delicious food, ice cream, and cake, and connecting again with friends and family.
Friends of the Library Book Donation Day
Submitted by Quintessa Gallinat, Manchester District Library. Come donate your gently used books to the Friends of the Library Book Sale on Saturday, July 13, between 10am and noon, in the City Room; proceeds benefit the Manchester District Library. Popular fiction and nonfiction books for all ages in good condition are welcome. Parking is available in the back lot where entry to the City Room is easiest. Please leave donations with a volunteer; items left outside the building cannot be accepted.
Adult book club meeting to discuss upcoming book selections

Join other members of the Manchester District Library (MDL) Adult Book Club on Wednesday, July 17, to discuss summer reads and nominate books for next season. The meeting will begin at 6pm in the Claire Reck History Room on the lower level of the City Building.
