New energy rates approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission could lower monthly bills paid by Consumers Energy customers. In December of last year, Consumers Energy requested to increase its revenue from gas customers by $136 million, which would have resulted in a natural gas rate increase of 5.7% for its customers.

Southwest Michigan counties to get disaster aid following May 7 tornadoes
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Monday that portions of Southwest Michigan will receive funding from the state's Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund following the May 7 tornadoes. Nearly $11 million of financial assistance will be provided to 17 counties.
