Pastor Chuck died peacefully at home on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the age of 88.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; son, Brent; daughter, Maia East; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and was preceded in death by son, Scott. He served several congregations in Wisconsin, California and Arizona and touched many hearts and lives during his long ministry and community activities. He was an avid golfer, Green Bay Packer fan, basketball player, racket ball player and was connected to many community programs one of which was planning, organizing and building a home for a family (with 6 children) in need, a rent appeals board member and a member of the board of directors of Sonoma State University Athletic Association, campus ministry, Chaplin of Public safety, supervised several building programs including developing a Kindergarten through 8th grade elementary school. He mentored 17 interns during his ministries and each church he served were healthy and growing when he left them. His final retirement was in 2019 from American Lutheran Church in Sun City where he served as outreach pastor. He continued to enjoy golf, hiking, off- road driving in the mountains and travel as long as he was physically able but heart and other health issues took their toll and narrowed his options. He continued on with a smile for each new day, never complaining and occasionally sharing a corny “Norwegian” joke and, to the end he beamed with pride when he was able to dance with Anita. He was a good man who was loved and will be deeply missed by many. A Service will be held at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City, AZ on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the ALC Chuck and Scott Memorial Fund or a gift to a favorite organization or cause of personal choice.
