Sun City West congregation attends training class

Members of the Beth Emeth Congregation, 13702 W. Meeker Blvd., met with three Arizona Church Security Network team members Feb. 11 for their “I Lived” training class.

Phil Pinkus, director, Metro Phoenix Network, led the class and John Catlidge and Terri Kelly assisted.

Those attending heard statistics and learned about strategies to deter, detect and defend, as well as what they can do to cultivate a survival mindset and initiate a lock down to shelter in place.

A demonstration video was a reminder that people sometimes do not see what is right in front of them when focusing on only one thing. Techniques to barricade a door were demonstrated as were techniques to disrupt, distract and swarm an intruder.
