Jaguars topple Kennedy/Burnsville 14-0 in annual cross-city contest

Regardless of the sport, the Battle of Bloomington always means emotions will be a little higher than normal, the shots a little tougher, checks a little heavier and overall a more physical contest when facing such familiar friends and in some cases family.

Wednesday afternoon was just the case as Jefferson boys’ lacrosse traveled to Kennedy for the annual meeting.

Kennedy is a cooperative with Burnsville with the lineup slightly favoring Kennedy for a second year.

The state-ranked Jaguars (4-0) handed Kennedy a 14-0 shutout defeat coming after a thrilling 7-6 win at Breck two days earlier.

Coming through for Kennedy in the win was Noah Spencer led Kennedy with four goals with Rocky Carlson and Kenny Moe each collecting one goal. Jameson Joubert added five assists and one goal.

Kennedy followed up with an 11-3 loss to Hopkins in a game played at Bob Pates Stadium in Burnsville on Friday.

Joubert had one goal and two assists for Kennedy while Carlson and Moe added the other goals in front of goaltender Jack Vodovnik who make 17 saves.

In the inter-Bloomington contest, it was the usual suspects getting into the action for the Jaguars with Carson Weiler leading the way with five goals and one assist, Kevin Graff added two goals, Lukas Wammer and Troy Stanton each had two goals and one assist. Ethan Amundson, Corbin Hagbom and Charlie Bartsch also picked up one goal apiece. Jaguars goaltender Bennett Lindman had four saves while Vodvonik made 16 saves for Kennedy.
