    WA scholarship program looking to 2025

    EXETER – The highly successful Wyoming Area Scholarship program, although winding down on the 2024 scholarships for graduation, are looking for scholarship donors for 2025 graduation campaign.

    “If any individuals or groups would like to offer a scholarship through the very successful Wyoming Area scholarship program, please call 570-655-2836 extension 2339,” Rosella Fedor, scholarship chair, said. “Give your name and phone number to the person answering the phone and a committee member will call you to answer any questions about developing a scholarship for this very successful program, calling does not obligate a person to offer a scholarship.”

    Deadline for accepting new scholarships is Aug. 31, 2024.

    “You will join am elite group of over 122 individuals and groups who offer scholarships through this program,” Fedor continued. “This coming June, we anticipate awarding approximately $400,000 in scholarship money to our graduating seniors. Donors select their recipients exclusively with no interference or suggestions from the school district or the scholarship chairs.”

    Wyoming Area has scholarships are offered by civic groups, school groups (athletic groups for specific sports, for example), benefactors to local colleges, local businesses, military organizations (local VFW’s, American Legions, etc.).

    Scholarships have also been offered in the name of athletic organizations, or individuals who want to honor a loved one who is deceased, local families who are interested in helping seniors with college expenses, past graduates of Wyoming Area, Wyoming Area classes on the occasion of their graduation (parents groups representing a specific graduating class), individual graduating classes many on the occasion of a reunion year, past Wyoming Area graduates who were awarded scholarships as seniors who want to pay it forward.

    “We are basically looking for people wanting to help seniors with upcoming college expenses, generous, kind and thoughtful people,” Fedor said. “By calling about information will not obligate you to offer a scholarship. All calls are welcome regarding scholarships.”
