    1 person dead, 1 taken into Border Patrol custody after desert search

    EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — One person has died and another was apprehended by Border Patrol Saturday afternoon, July 20 during a multi-agency search of the desert area near Sunland Park, according to Sunland Park’s Fire Department.

    Sunland Park Fire assisted Border Patrol and Dona Ana Fire Rescue in searching the desert area off Bi-National Avenue for two people who called 911 for help.

    Both were found by Dona Ana Fire Rescue and medical care was given.

    One person died and the other was taken by Border Patrol, Sunland Park Fire said.

    The call came in around 1:20 p.m.
