Wesley Snipes surprised the world with his return to the role of Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine . Now, he’s returning to another surprising role; comic book writer. Massive Entertainment is finally collecting Snipes’ original series, The Exiled , in a trade paperback.

Originally published as a monthly six-issue mini-series in 2023, The Exiled marked Wesley Snipes’ premiere into the world of independent comics. Beyond producing the series through his production company Maandi House Studios, Snipes licensed his likeness for the series’ main character. The series was written by Adam Lawson and Keith Arem, who previously collaborated with Snipes on the Demolition Man video game. The artwork was provided by The Boys cover artist Eskivo.

Wesley Snipes’ Exiled is Blade Runner meets Seven

Described as a “sci-fi noir,” The Exalted centers around police detective Niles “Roach” Washington. Roach is on the hunt for a serial killer, whom he believes to be part of an ancient conspiracy. His coworkers and his bosses think he’s crazy. Unfortunately for them all, Roach may also be right. With enemies on all sides, ranging from his fellow police officers to powerful forces he can’t explain, Roach must dig deeper and uncover secrets hidden for thousands of years.

“Comics let you explore big worlds,” Wesley Snipes enthused while speaking on The Exiled. “Since Blade, I have been attracted to origin stories and developing characters. Now, I get to build ‘Roach’ as a character from the ground up and I dig that.”

Co-writer Keith Arem was equally animated in discussing the collaboration. “I’m thrilled to work with Wesley again. He is a fantastic creative partner, and Adam and I love collaborating with him.”

The trade-paperback edition of The Exiled marks the first time the series has been available outside of specialty stores. Despite selling over 200,000 issues as a monthly title, it has yet to be collected as a graphic novel. Consequentially, Massive Entertainment has high hopes for the new volume. For that reason, a limited edition first printing of 10,000 copies is being sold exclusively through Amazon. However, the TP will also be offered through comic shops everywhere in addition to retail bookstores and on-line avenues.

Wesley Snipes’ The Exiled Vol. 1 releases on October 29. 2024.
