Deadpool & Wolverine’s Female Juggernaut Concept Art Reveals Canceled Plans

With Deadpool & Wolverine dominating theaters, concept artists are now sharing early designs from the film’s development. Recent reveals include scrapped ideas and alternate versions of iconic characters. One notable example is a female Juggernaut that didn’t make it into the movie. Concept artist David Masson San Gabriel recently showcased this unused design, offering insight into some of the creative decisions behind the third Deadpool film.

New concept art from Deadpool & Wolverine reveals a scrapped idea for a female version of Juggernaut. Concept artist David Masson San Gabriel designed a female take on the iconic X-Men villain, but this version did not make it into the movie.

The film originally planned to include Juggernaut, previously portrayed by Vinnie Jones in X-Men: The Last Stand and later as a CGI character in Deadpool 2, in a minor role. Professional bodybuilder Aaron Reed played Juggernaut, and the production team considered a female variant. However, they abandoned the idea due to the character’s limited presence in the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine features multiverse cameos from Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Wesley Snipes’ Blade, and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. It also includes variants of characters from previous X-Men films. The studio approached Vinnie Jones to reprise his role as Juggernaut, but he declined due to the challenges of wearing the suit and budget constraints.

Jones explained in an interview with Yahoo UK , “Funnily enough, I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director, and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically.” The actor continued, “I mean it had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool [& Wolverine].”
