Marble and Glass Art Hunt Brings Excitement to Duluth Public Library
DULUTH, Minn. — The Annual Marble and Glass Art Hunt was Wednesday morning in Duluth and this year it took on a whole new meaning. Lake Superior Art Glass had a new venue for the hunt this year, the Duluth Public Library’s three branch locations. Hunters of all ages lined up to search for handcrafted marbles, pendants, and little glass statues. Previously, the hunt was held across Duluth’s public parks and enjoy the outdoors. This year, hunters ventured into the shelves to search.
New Native Theatre to Present FALLENSTAR: THE WATCHOVERERS at The NorShor
In collaboration with Duluth Playhouse, New Native Theatre will present Fallenstar: The Watchoverers, an exciting new superhero play by Ramón Esquivel. Running October 11 - 13, 2024 at the NorShor Theatre, this Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) play has been commissioned by the BIPOC Superhero Project. Led by playwright and educator José Casas, this new initiative is designed to give playwrights of color more access to regional theaters and create BIPOC characters in the TYA canon that are heroic and strong role models for all children.
Live from Studio A: Grant Glad
This Minnesota native moved to Duluth about a year prior to joining us in the studio on July 18, 2024. The Americana singer/songwriter released an album, One Man's Story, in January of 2024; the concept album, inspired by the storytelling of John Steinbeck, follows a Midwestern man from the age of 13 through his life to old age and becoming a widower. We talked with Glad about the album, his mockumentary Tall People Music, and about his podcast, Glad to be Here, in which he interviews fellow Minnesota musicians. Glad shared some new songs as well as a song from the album.

Natalija Walbridge is the fiber artist behind Dock 5 and has a love for the nature living in Park Point. Her Dock 5 studio is in view of Hearding Island, a place where she gets most of her inspiration from. The island is a 29.19 acre Wildlife reserve, where many of the animals Natalija puts into her pieces come from.
