Koa Rothman and Crew Score Biggest Swell of the Year at Indo's Most Notorious Tube

After a midseason slumber, the Indian Ocean just came roaring back to life.

A few days ago a big west swell hammered Indonesia. There's another similar swell hitting today, with the long range charts teasing at least two more significant storms in the next two weeks.

So yeah, it's a good time to be in Indo.

During the most recent swell, Koa Rothman , Barron Mamiya , Eli Olson and a crew of underground tube hounds paddled out to Kandui on the biggest, meanest day of the year. While Kandui is never an easy wave, with huge wind driven ribs coming up the face of 8-foot bombs it was a quadruple black diamond kind of day.

At least it was for most. Rothman, Olson and Mamiya are lunatics, and made it look way easier than it actually was. While Rothman gets the wave of the day, Mamiya's technique is a thing of beauty. I guess when you grow up surfing Pipeline, every other left tube is a walk in the park.

From the good, to the bad, to the ugly, the crew from Kandui Villas included just about every wave ridden during the day in the edit above. While the aforementioned three ruled the day, it's crazy how many underground chargers were willing to strap up, paddle out and give it a go.

Just imagine you booked your 10 day stay in the Ments and this swell shows up. Are you paddling out?
