A Surfside Beach building that included a recently opened restaurant caught fire early Friday morning, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Fire crews responded to a multi-unit commercial property, which included Roma Ray Italian Market and Bakery , 1856 US 17 Business, at 1:34 a.m., an Horry County Fire Rescue Facebook post said.

The fire was contained to the roof area and extinguished, the post said. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A person answering the phone at Roma Ray said that the restaurant was not affected and that the store near them received damage. The restaurant remains open.

The deli and bakery opened in June and serves bread, desserts and deli items.
