Upgrades Ahead, Gwinnett County Approves Enhancements for Senior Services, Pedestrian Safety, and Water System
Recent moves by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners are setting the stage for tangible improvements across the community. Approved in their June 18 meeting, these initiatives target the well-being of senior citizens, pedestrian safety, and water system reliability. An upgrade for the senior services meals program, technological enhancements in the Singleton Road corridor, and a substantial water main replacement have all been given the green light.

Closing Note: The Norcross Issue
Canopy Atlanta asked over 100 Norcross community members about the journalism they needed. The Norcross Issue emerged from that feedback. Editor’s Note: Angie Uddullah has been involved in the Norcross Issue from the very beginning. She spent days talking to residents about the issues that moved them, she served on the Norcross Community Editorial Board and helped senior editor Christina Lee frame the stories, and she worked for the second time as a Community Journalism Fellow to deepen her reporting work alongside her legal studies. It’s only fitting that she gives the final (for now) word on the city she called home.

ACWORTH – July 4. JULY 4TH CONCERT AND FIREWORKS. Live music will start at 5:30pm. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30pm. Free admission. If parking is full or you don’t have a pass; parking is available in downtown. No shuttle service from downtown. Alpharetta Issues July 4th Fireworks Regulations Reminder, Urges Respect for Neighbors
As residents gear up to celebrate Independence Day with the traditional pomp of fireworks, the City of Alpharetta reminds the community to acknowledge Georgia's laws regarding their use. According to a recent announcement, fireworks are permitted statewide until 11:59 p.m. on holidays including July 4, with additional hours granted on New Year's Day from midnight to 1:00 a.m.
Public Project Construction Update – June 2024
Alton Tucker Blvd Extension. This project’s objective is to improve the intersection of Level Creek Rd and West Broad Street, as well as extending Alton Tucker to Highway 20 at the east end of the E Center property. Paving is complete and signal installation is finished as well. A stamped asphalt decorative application at the intersection of Alton Tucker and West Broad will be installed next. Striping should be completed this week. Final project completion should be by the end of July.
