Cedar Key residents spent Tuesday recovering from Debby, which hit the city as a Category 1 hurricane Monday. Despite flooding, high winds and a power outage that lasted until Tuesday afternoon, many residents in this island city along the Gulf of Mexico were grateful the storm was not as severe as Hurricane Idalia, which devastated the area last fall.

North Central Florida nonprofits receive state grants to address homelessness
The Florida Department of Children and Families awarded eight local nonprofits state grants allocated toward homelessness services. On July 30, TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness allocated over $700,000 in state grant awards to Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry, Family Promise of Gainesville, Peaceful Paths, St. Francis House, Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Corporation, Another Way, Lee Conlee House and Catholic Charities Bureau.
