    North Carolina man arrested on charges of drug trafficking

    BUNCOMBE CO., N.C. (WSPA) – A Swannanoa man has been charged with multiple drug trafficking charges following an investigation conducted by the Buncombe Co. Sheriff’s Office.

    On July 11, officials of the Buncombe Co. Sheriff’s Office IGRANT unit, along with the Macon County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which led to the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl.

    IGRANT agents seized the following:

    • $18,104.15 in United States currency
    • 45.8 grams of fentanyl
    • Glock 44 handgun with ammunition
    • A diamond necklace
    • Miscellaneous drug paraphernalia
    • Less than half an ounce of marijuana
    • 38 dosage units of alprazolam
    • 13 dosage units of buprenorphine

    Aaron Daniel Jones, 43, was arrested. He was charged with the following:

    • Level III Trafficking in Fentanyl by Transport
    • Level III Trafficking in Fentanyl by Possession
    • Maintaining a Vehicle
    • Firearm by Felon
    • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    Jones has been placed in the Buncombe Co. Detention Favility with a $170,000.00 bond.
