HENDERSONVILLE - With the number of mental health-related calls on the rise, the Hendersonville Police Department is looking for backup from a new source — a social worker. Tori Doyle, a graduate student intern from Western Carolina University’s Department of Social Work, will begin working part-time with the department this August through the university’s Community Care Program, which partners with law enforcement agencies to tackle the root causes of certain police interactions.

Following a national search, Warren Wilson College welcomed Keith McDade, Ph.D., as the director. The MACS program builds on the College’s decades-long legacy of leadership in climate change action and the strength of its undergraduate environmental programs. The two-year, low-residency graduate program will educate leaders capable of planning, implementing, and managing effective, just, and equitable climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
