Judge declares mistrial in case of Vermont sheriff accused of kicking inmate
NORTH HERO, Vt. (AP) — A judge has declared a mistrial after the jury deadlocked in the case of a Vermont sheriff accused of kicking an inmate. Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore was charged with simple assault for kicking a shackled inmate in 2022 when he was a captain with the department. The jury on Wednesday spent four hours deliberating before telling the judge it could not reach a unanimous decision.
1 dead after crash in Grand Isle
GRAND ISLE, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say one person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Grand Isle. It happened Tuesday just before 6 p.m. on Route 2. Vermont State Police say Richard Meissner, 53, of Clark, New Jersey, and Shantel Lafountain, 26, of Champlain, New York, were both headed north when Lafountain rear-ended Meissner.
Enosburg resident arrested on warrant after Berkshire disturbance
BERKSHIRE — A 40-year-old Enosburg resident was arrested on an active warrant following a disturbance on Route 105 on July 22. Sidney Pecor was apprehended by Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks after they responded to the incident around 7:57 p.m. Pecor, identified as the individual involved in the disturbance, was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.
