Troy Seymour named head coach at Brockport
Former Oswego Laker wrestler and coach Troy Seymour has moved west along Lake Ontario to take over as head coach at Brockport. He replaces Sam Recco who coached the team during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Seymour graduated from Oswego in 2019 and moved directly into a coaching role. He has spent the past five seasons on the bench as an assistant to Mike Howard. As a competitor, Seymour was an NCAA qualifier in 2018, placed four times in the Mideast Regional, and won exactly 100 matches at Oswego after transferring in from NC State.

Slain Cleveland cop a McQuaid grad, son of former Greece Police officer who was at West Webster tragedy
CLEVELAND, OHIO – A police officer killed on the job on the Fourth of July was raised in Webster and graduated from McQuaid Jesuit. Jamieson Ritter, 27, was a four-year veteran of the force. He’s the son of retired Greece Police Officer Jon Ritter. The elder Ritter was credited with saving lives on Christmas Eve 2012 when William Spengler set a fire and shot and killed responding firefighters on Lake Road. Ritter was on his way to work and used to his car to prevent others from happen upon the gunfire.

CHILI POST 1830 (2-10) 2. Weston Elkovitch went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored as Greece Post grabbed an early lead and went to win its 13th straight game. Drew Wilson struck out two batters and allowed two hits in four innings to help pick up the win. Greece Post got on the board in the first inning with a Derick Allen sacrifice that brought home Brody Froman. Elkovitch followed with a single to drive in Brady Gerig. Andrew Lenhard connected on a home run in the second inning to make it a 3-0 game. Elkovitch added to the scoring in the third with a double that plated Allen. Braedon Reina singled and Elkovitch took advantage of an error on the play to come home. Kaleb Juliano made it a 6-0 game with an RBI single. Froman went 2-for-2 along with two walks and a run scored. Joe Sanna finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Chili Post’s Jamie Derleth cut the seven-run deficit to five with a two-run single that scored Alex Spezzano and Bobby Rule home. Derleth went 2-for-4. Spezzano was 1-for-3 and Rule finished 1-for-2 with two walks.

It was another route for Greece and Giannis Antetokounmpo today, as they toppled the Dominican Republic in their first Olympic Qualifying game today. After logging 14 points a few days ago against the Bahamas, Antetokounmpo turned the dial up in today’s performance, crafting out a showing of 32 points in just 18 minutes.
