Dr. Alicia B. Harvey-Smith, PTC president stands strong on her record; ‘I Finish What I Start’
Dr. Harvey-Smith is the president of Pittsburgh Technical College, or PTC for short. Today, the school is pretty much no more. The school’s Board of Trustees decided in June 2024 to close the college altogether in August following declining enrollment and a host of investigations and local TV news stories that, according to some at the college who spoke with the Courier, including Dr. Harvey-Smith, portrayed the college in a very bad light. For the second summer in a row, the Monroeville Gators Junior Legion baseball team concluded its season in the state playoffs. HOMER-CENTER SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES MOVING FORWARD WITH NEW AIR CHILLER PROJECTS
After a lengthy discussion Thursday night, Homer-Center School Board approved moving forward with projects for air chillers at the elementary and high school buildings. The motion gave a notice to proceed to McClure Company out of Wexford to start the process to order chillers for both school buildings. The chiller and controls for the high school will cost around $1.9 million, while the chiller for the elementary school will cost $734,500. Superintendent Ralph Cecere, Jr said it was a necessary fix.
