Sylacauga School Nutrition announces free meals for 2024-2025 school year
SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Schools Nutrition Program has announced that breakfast & lunch will be provided at no charge for all students in all city schools. Nutritious meals come with no strings attached, there are no forms to fill out, nothing to submit, just the ability to take advantage of complimentary meals for the upcoming school year!

At Sylacauga High School, that is NOT changing, but a reminder of what is and what is not allowed can be helpful. See the graphics below. It’s also important to note that a Student ID Badge is a part of the dress code, and it should be worn every day. All students will be issued a new one.

Black Man Executed In Alabama Despite Concerns Over His 1998 Conviction
In 2020, a federal court ruled that Gavin's court-appointed lawyers were ineffective. Keith Edmund Gavin was put to death by the State of Alabama on July 18. Although he was convicted by a jury of his peers for fatally shooting William Clayton Jr, a delivery driver, during a robbery attempt in 1998, questions remained about Gavin’s representation during his trial. Gavin attempted a last resort handwritten appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to stay his execution, but it was rejected without comment nearly an hour before his execution.
