TPD: Car goes off road near Douglas and Laskey before hitting pole, flipping over
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A single vehicle crash ended with a car flipping over in Toledo Friday afternoon. The crash occurred on July 5 around 12:54 p.m. According to Toledo Police, the 34-year-old woman from Sylvania, was driving southbound on Douglas Road headed toward Laskey Road when she lost control, over corrected and went of the road. Her vehicle then hit a curb and a light pole before before flipping over.
TPD: Masked man robs discount store at gunpoint Thursday night on East Broadway
TOLEDO, Ohio — An east Toledo discount store was robbed by a masked man armed with a weapon Thursday night. Police responded to the scene at a Family Dollar in the 600 block of East Broadway Street, where a robbery reportedly happened just before 8:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a Toledo Police Department report.

75 sworn in as citizens on July Fourth at Sauder Village
ARCHBOLD, Ohio – In 2018, Gamal Mohamed won a green card lottery and moved his family from Cairo to the United States. On Thursday, Mr. Mohamed, 62, a Toledo restaurant chef, was all smiles as he watched his wife of 25 years, Maha Mohamed; daughter Nadia Mohamed, and son Mostafa Mohamed take an oath of citizenship. Mrs. Mohamed and her children were among 75 people, originally of 37 countries, who were sworn in as U.S. citizens by Magistrate Judge James Knepp during a naturalization ceremony at Sauder Village, a popular living-history destination location in Fulton County. About 400 attended the 60-minute event. “I am happy and proud that I gave them that opportunity, and I hope to be soon joining them as a U.S. citizen,” the older Mr. Mohamed said.

Another block added to $6M Perrysburg uptown revitalization project
The entire Perrysburg uptown will get a makeover beginning next year. City council approved adding a third part to the Louisiana Avenue revitalization project at its meeting Tuesday. This adds $1.4 million to the cost, for a total of $6.2 million to $6.5 million for all three phases. Council had already approved doing the 100 and 200 blocks of Louisiana. This week’s action adds the 300 block. The 300 block will undergo improvements first, in 2025. The 100 and 200 blocks will be done in 2026.
