This question gets asked a lot.  What’s the difference between a watch or warning?  Which is worse?

    Severe weather alerts for CNY

A watch means severe weather could happen-Be prepared

A watch is less severe.  You will usually see a watch issued well in advance of a warning.

When a watch is issued, it means that the conditions or ingredients are in place to produce the hazardous weather that’s alerted.

You can carry on with your normal plans, but you must remain vigilant and weather aware, for any possible warnings or advisories.

A warning means severe weather IS happening-Take action

    A warning is more serious.

This is when you’ll need to take action.  Severe weather or tornadoes are occurring and the people living in the affected area need to take cover.

Please remember that severe weather can happen outside of watch or warning areas.

The best way to stay prepared between newscasts is by downloading the Storm Team app from the app store or google play store.
