More than a dozen incarcerated people Maine State Prison earn degrees
WARREN, Maine — It’s graduation season. On Tuesday, a small group of students overcame significant hurdles—some of their own making—to get their diplomas. Fifteen incarcerated people at the Maine State Prison received associate or bachelor’s degrees as part of a commencement ceremony at the prison. The degrees are a partnership between the prison and the University of Augusta, which announced it had graduated more than 180 incarcerated people to date.
