Monticello Athlete of the Week: Kaela Skistad
Monticello girls’ track and field star Kaela Skistad (11) is back in the record books. Last week, on Tuesday, April 30 at Buffalo High School, Kaela broke her own record in the 400-meter dash after timing in at 57.02 seconds. It isn’t the first and it probably won’t be the last time she breaks this record.

Magic win Grand National Invite On Monday, the Monticello boys’ golf team played in a Mississippi 8 conference meet at Bulrush Golf Club. The Magic (323) finished in fourth. Chisago Lakes (315) won the meet. Senior Tommy Disch (73) was the individual champion. Sophomore Carter Lemke (79), senior Lance Ingalls (85) and senior Quinten Haas (86) scored for Monti. 50 YEARS AGO: MAY, 1974 Local sports history was made when the Monticello girls’ track and field team hosted its first-ever meet. St. Michael-Albertville won the five-school meet followed by Annandale, Delano, Maple Lake and Monticello. Nobody cleans up like the Monticello Magic. At the Minnesota Swimming Coaches Association Swim and Dive All-State Awards Banquet on Friday, April 26, the Monticello Magic continued their dominance of the sport, this time out of the pool.
