At the 72nd Commencement Exercise of Mississippi Valley State University, alumnus Mr. Archie Tucker, Sr., spoke to the class of 2024. As the Area Director for the Southeast Area of the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Tucker shared insights from his career. He encouraged the graduates to take pride in their alma mater and approach the future with confidence. The ceremony, held at the R.W. Harrison Complex, celebrated over 200 students receiving their degrees.

LaPatrick Whitehead's transition from a jail cell to a graduation stage shows his resilience and determination. In April 2021, Whitehead was incarcerated at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, a significant change from his university life. This challenging time prompted him to reflect and grow. Despite these difficulties, Whitehead resolved to not let this setback define his future. His story illustrates not only a fall but also a recovery, emerging stronger and more focused.
MVSU Scholars Shine at National Presidential Forum in Atlanta, Enhancing University's Profile
In April 2024, scholars from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) attended the Presidential Forum for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Atlanta, GA. This was the first time MVSU participated in the forum, an event established in 2000 to enhance collaboration among HBCUs. The forum served as a platform for MVSU scholars to network with leaders from education, government, and business, including Fortune 500 CEOs and military officers.

Students from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) participated in the 2024 Association of Computer and Information Science/Engineering Departments at Minority Institutions (ADMI) symposium in Atlanta, Georgia. The event focused on 'Science Gateways and High-Performance Computing' and gathered STEM students from across the country for competitions and collaboration. MVSU students competed in various events, showcasing their skills and knowledge.

Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) has scheduled its 72nd Commencement Exercise for 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the R.W. Harrison Complex. Graduates should arrive by 6:30 a.m. in their regalia, and the gates for the general public will open at 7 a.m.
