Communiversity Band to present spring concert
A spring concert by the Communiversity Band will be held at UW-Eau Claire — Barron County on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the UWEC-BC Fine Arts Theatre, 1800 College Drive, Rice Lake. The Communiversity Band, a 50-member ensemble, is a joint effort of the UW-Eau Claire — Barron County music department and adult musicians of the region. Trumpet soloist is Ana Traicoff-Stratioti, Rice Lake. The ensemble has been under the direction of Michael Joosten since 2001. Selections to be performed include "Cajun Folk Songs," "The Seal Lullaby," "Nexus," "Masada," "On Parade," "American Hymnsong Suite," and "Alleluia" from Exultate featuring the flute section. Admission is a freewill donation in support of the music department. A reception will follow.
Library closed Friday for staff development

The Rice Lake Public Library will be hosting Wisconsin author Michael Perry at the library on Tuesday, April 23, at 7 p.m. Perry is a humorist, radio host, songwriter and New York Times bestselling author. He will speak about his recent novella, "Forty Acres Deep" and answer audience questions. Refreshments will be served. Successful fishing team season
SPOONER — The Shell Lake/Spooner high school fishing team competed in four Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Association ice fishing tournaments. Each event requires somewhat different strategies as to species and sizes needed for success.
