Major California Job Cuts as Walmart Reduces Local Workforce. In a major downsizing move, retail giant Walmart is eliminating hundreds of jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to filings with the California Employment Development Department, a total of 568 employees across Walmart's Sunnyvale and San Bruno locations will be laid off effective August 9th.
