Laurel Hill Community Center is now accepting entries for Golf Cart Parade set for June 27
LAURINBURG — The Laurel Hill Community Center is gearing up for its second annual Golf Cart Parade to be held in commemoration of Independence Day. Set for June 27 from 5 to 7 p.m., the event allows community members to sign up their Fourth of July-themed golf carts, side-by-sides, four-wheelers and lawnmowers to participate in the parade which travels the half-mile walking track surrounding our property.

HAMLET — Main Street Park was temporarily converted into an outdoor worship center Friday evening for the second installment of the 2024 Boxcar Concert Series. Hamlet Lions Club Spring Carnival offers plenty of fun and games
Richmond County residents can have fun for a good cause starting Friday with the kickoff of the 2024 Hamlet Lions Club Spring Carnival. Located in the Hamlet Fairgrounds, across from Hamlet Lake, the Hamlet Lions Club Spring Carnival runs Friday through Sunday with all of the proceeds going to the Hamlet Lions Club.

Jersey Mike’s Day raises $24K for SMF
The numbers are in and Jersey Mike’s Laurinburg and Pembroke stores garnered $24,053 for the Scotland Memorial Fund on Jersey Mike’s Day, held on March 30. Ron Gibson, the Laurinburg store’s owner, said the Laurinburg store ranked number 22 out of 2,500 stores across the nation in sales. Woodworker, seamstress featured as May’s Artists of the Month
LAURINBURG — Featuring a woodworker and a seamstress for May, the Arts Council of Scotland County (ACSC) is proceeding with its Artist of the Month series. Woodworker Robert “Bob” Ewald said he thinks living next door to a sawmill influenced his interest in wood. Then, taking shop class his senior year in high school, he made his first turned bowl and piece of furniture. That experience stayed with him, and later in life, he took up woodworking again as a hobby.
