$4 million grant will revamp Village of Caldwell's downtown area
Downtown Caldwell is getting a facelift, thanks to the Appalachian Community Grant program. The village's plan for revitalization was recently chosen to receive $4,009,778 in grant money. The award was part of the Ohio's Wonderful Waterways Initiative, a grouping within the ACG. Its stated purpose is to expand access to local waterways, revitalize historic riverfront downtowns, and create new tourism and recreational opportunities.
Newcomerstown News: Vendors sought for Second Saturday festivities on June 8
Newcomerstown Now members are preparing hanging flower baskets for downtown. They will be in place by June 8, for the Second Saturday event. Activities are 3 to 9 p.m. on Main Street, and include performances by Six Strings and A Fiddle – Mark Hardesty and Nancy Orr followed by Moonlyterz, a game based on Family Feud, vendors, children's activities, pulled port dinners and a beer garden.

Guernsey Country receives $1.2M in emergency grants following heavy April rains
CAMBRIDGE − The Guernsey County Engineer’s Office has received $1.2 million in emergency funding to fix county roads following heavy April rains. The money came from the Ohio Public Works Commission’s (OPWC) emergency program. Warsaw and Newcomerstown receive H2Ohio grants
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recently announced $2.2 million in H2Ohio grants for more than 250 communities in 78 counties to help pay for equipment needed to maintain public drinking water distribution systems. Two of the recipients were Warsaw and Newcomerstown. They will receive $9,981 and $9,655, respectively. Project will help with having reliable, clean drinking water through investments in drinking water systems. Public water systems were eligible to apply for up to $10,000 through H2Ohio. The grants cover distribution system equipment such as mobile leak detectors, line locators, valve exercisers, flow meters, hydrant condition assessors, pressure monitors and training to use the equipment.
